The Commissioners of Accounts, also known as the Brooke House Commissioners, was set up to inspect the expenditure of the money granted to Charles II to fund the war against the Dutch. This document is significant in illustrating a pivotal moment in Parliamentary history, when the Commons were permitted to investigate in this manner.
