1782 (4 Nov.) entire letter ex the Tudway correspondence to Wells, rated "1/-" (deleted) and "1/4", showing fair to good "antigua" handstamp (Proud Type PS 5) and, on reverse across join, London "16/de" Bishopmark. The contents include "..the June Fleet got safe to their different ports except the Freeman, Captain Clarke, foundered at sea"...."A fleet and Army are expected here by the middle of the month from America" and "The French also expect a large armament, so that much will depend upon which happens to be first".
