Early Letters and Handstamps
1780 (18 Mar.) entire letter from Langford Lovell to Sir William Codrington in London, marked "p the packet", rated "2/-" and showing, on reverse, "9/ma" Bishopmark. The writer mentions the French from the inactivity of Admiral Parker have got into Martinique a considerable reinforcement of men of war and troops, and an expedition undertaken by General Vaughan has been frustrated by the aforesaid arrival.
