International 6 candareen to U.S.A. via Japan
1889 (24 Apr.) opened-out envelope from the U.S. legation to U.S.A. bearing 1ca. green (2) and 5ca. yellow (2) cancelled by Peking seal in blue with Japan Koban 10s. cancelled by I.J.P.A. Shanghai c.d.s. with a second strike alongside tying one of the 5ca., and Yokohama transit (10.5). The reverse with a fine strike of "i.g. of customs/peking" type II (day befoe month) c.d.s. in blue, Customs Shanghai (30.4), San Francisco transit (1.7) and indistinct Morgantown octagonal datestamp (3.7). Some light soiling barely detracts from this interesting cover paying double weight. Photo
