"Zapzibar" and broken "p" for "n"
Stage 3, Bottom of "p" permanently removed (Hall variety 5c, S.G. variety B)

The tail of the "p" was then broken off deliberately and permanently removed. Listed by Hall as variety 8c. Occurred in R.5/5 on Overprint Setting 1 and R.3/2 in Overprint Setting 3, with small second "z" up in both cases. Found in all values

A selection (10) with ½a., 1a., 2a., 2½a., 3a., 4a. slate-green, 6a., 8a. dull mauve, 12a. and 1r. green and aniline carmine; unused with part to large part original gum. S.G. 3B-18B group. Cat. £760. Photo for one

Note: As a footnote in his study Hall (p. 18) identified two examples of the broken "p" for "n" with the second "z" down rather than up
