The Major Errors
"Zapzibar" and broken "p" for "n"
State 1, "Zapzibar" (Hall variety 5a)

This may have occurred in some form of trial setting, though was never postally used. Five examples are in the Royal Philatelic Collection, however their status was described by Wilson as "questionable". Long since withdrawn from S.G. listings

State 2, Bottom of "p" erased with knife (Hall variety 5b)

This was a clumsy attempt to rectify the "Zapzibar" error (Hall p. 17). Ten examples have been recorded, including five in the Royal Philatelic Collection. Several have been described as cancelled-to-order with "17 ja 96" datestamps, though there is no evidence of postal use

1a. plum and 3a. brown-orange, both with "17 ja 96" datestamp, fine. B.P.A. Certificate (2018) for both. Photo
