Due to Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, Trans-Pacific FAM-14 and FAM-19 services were suspended in early December. Airmail destined for Malaya only travelled as far as USA
1941 (20 Nov.) envelope from Surrey to Kuala Lumpur, marked "Air throughout, Pan American Clipper via Lisbon, San Francisco", franked at 5/- with adhesive crossed by "postage refunded" handstamp and showing framed "no service/return to sender" in violet, also attached note from Returned Letter Section, London to refund unexpended portion of air postage, 3/9d.
