On 2 May 1941 PAA substituted Singapore for Hong Kong in alternate weeks as the western terminus for their Trans-Pacific services. The return flight left Singapore on 12 May and went via Manila, Guam and Honolulu to San Francisco

1941 (10 May) envelope from Singapore to Liverpool, marked "By Pan-American Airways Inaugural Flight S'pore England via Trans Pacific", franked at $1.95 and cancelled with FPO SP 501 datestamp and showing blue Naval Censor cachet; 1941 (8 Sept) and (23 Sept.) envelopes from Penang and Singapore to New York, the former registered, franked at $4.65 and $1.50, and both showing violet Censor cachet, the latter also with "arrived safely" and Malaya Patriotic Fund labels
