From 25 October 1929 a direct air mail was also made up for Basle, Switzerland, containing correspondence for Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany and Continental Europe generally. However, little use was made of this service resulting in very few covers being recorded.
1929 (25 Oct.) envelope from Penang to Switzerland and carried on the first flight, marked "Via Karachi - Berne", franked at 33c. (1c. overpaid) and showing "by air mail" etiquette. Colourful. Photo
