From 25 October 1929 a direct air mail was also made up for Basle, Switzerland, containing correspondence for Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany and Continental Europe generally. However, little use was made of this service resulting in very few covers being recorded.
1929 (24 Oct.) envelope from Singapore to Switzerland, marked "By Air Mail. Karachi - Basle", franked at 32c. and cancelled by "orchard road/singapore" double-ring d.s., showing "by air mail" etiquette with Singapore and unclear arrival datestamps on reverse. Scarce. Photo
