1926 Alan Cobham England - Singapore - Australia Flight
On 30 June Alan Cobham, in a DH50J G-EBFO, began a 26,000 mile flight from England to Australia and back. He arrived at Singapore on 29 July and Darwin on 5 August. The purpose of the flight was to promote British aviation and demonstrate the practicalities of commercial air routes.

1926 (3 Sept.) stampless envelope from Darwin to London and carried on the return flight from Australia to London, typewritten "carried by alan j. cobham, on de haviland 50 seaplane, departed. Sept 4th 1926/arrived. Oct 1st 1926" (dates in manuscript), bearing GB ½d. and 1d. on arrival, signed Alan J. Cobham and numbered "1". Only nine carried and with note from Alan Cobham confirming the authenticity of the cover. Photo.

Note: On the return flight Alan Cobham left Melbourne on 29 August, Darwin on 4 September, and arrived in Singapore on 7 September, and finally reaching London on 1 October after about thirty intermediate stops.
