1847 (10 Oct.) entire from St. John's and carried on the feeder service steamer to Halifax and then by Cunard Line Cumbria to Boston, rated "1/-" packet rate, rated 6c as a local ship letter collect, showing fine Crowned circle "paid/at/st johns/newfoundland" in red (crossed by light filing crease), indistinct "ship/6" h.s. and, on reverse, despatch and Halifax (15.10) transit datestamps.
