Type numbers quoted in this and the following sections are those by Stanley Gibbons. There are sub-types of Types 1, 2, 7 and 12 and when quoted these are used by H.R. Holmes in his article in the London Philatelist, November 1962, etc.
1877-78 First Printing in black on 1d. and red on other values
½d. grey-black block of four from the left-hand pane, Rows 9/1-2 and 10/1-2, comprising Types 4 over 6 and 5, neatly cancelled with Kimberley 390 October 1877 double-arc datestamp at centre. A fine and scarce multiple. S.G. 4d-f, £435+. Photo
