1821 (27 December) printed warrant reimbursing General Sir Alexander Maitland, Colonel of the 49th Regiment of Foot for the sum of £15, 803.7.7¾d plus £115.5.4d for the period 25 March 1804 to 24 December 1804. With a fine signature "George R" signed at Carlton House and counter signed "Palmerston" as Secretary of State for War. Some wear at edges of folds. Photo

Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Baronet (1728 - 1820) was a general in the British Army and the first of the Maitland baronets of Clifton. He was the fifth son of Charles Maitland, 6th Earl of Lauderdale. He was Colonel of the 49th Regiment of Foot from 1768–1820, a total of 52 years.
