Group of documents (7) relating to Native labour, including 1923 pair of documents made out to the same native, the first a "native labour passport" variously cancelled by 'Compound manager', 'Chief Pass officer', and other cachets, with Transvaal 1/- red embossed revenue, accompanied by his 'Native Tax Receipt' for £2, 1921 service contract franked with 'Union of South Africa' Monthly fee labels for 2/- (5), 1951 Employment permit bearing General Tax (2) and Local Tax (2) labels, a 1947 Travel pass to Natal and 1962 circular shortly before withdrawal of Native Tax stamps limiting their distribution to certain offices, and a rare 1978 label showing tribal levies paid by Kakoveld tribe. A wonderful lot containing a wealth of unique material.
