Ukualuthi Tribe
Group of registration certificates (4), the first paid for the yeas 1936-39 with South Africa Revenue 5/- brown and grey overprinted "ukualuthi/ s.w.a." and 1931 postage 5/- overprinted with silver bar and "ukualuthi" (4), with heavy crease running through two stamps, the second endorsed "Dupl." (duplicate) and paid for the years 1945-52 with 1931 postage 2d. blue and brown surcharged "Ukualuthi/ 5/-" in red, with diamonds obscuring original value, the third card badly defective but bearing 1931 postage ½d. black and emerald (3) mixed franking of both Ukuambi and Ukualuthi 5/- overprints in red, the final card showing payments for 1971 and 72 with the yellow labels which replaced the stamps. A very rare group from this tiny tribe, this lot containing three of the seven surviving stamped registration cards. Photo
