Bahamas outstanding collection in four stock albums, generally with duplication throughout, commencing with G.B. 4d used in the Bahamas, following the first issue with two black plate proofs, two 1d mint examples apparently on thick paper and one used on thin paper, 1861-62 with 4d & 6d black plate proofs, 1d mint and used (2), 4d used (2), 6d with manuscript "Specimen" and three used, 1862 S.G. #8 unused, five 1d values used, two 4d. used, S.G. #13 used, perf. 13 1d used (5) and 6d used and unused (rare), continuing with a large duplication of 1863-77 1d (S.G. #20-25) used and mint including two blocks of four, 4d bright rose and dull rose shades unused (2 of each) and used including wmk. reversed and wmk. inverted and reversed, 6d mint (two, one being marginal), 6d violet with numerous mint examples including one pair, among the used ones wmk. varieties can be found, perf. 14 with 1d including aniline shade, 4d mint and used with wmk. inverted, also featuring the scarce dull rose shade in mint condition, 1863-80 1s in infrequent used block of ten, 1882 4d perf. 12 with two mint examples 1d perf. 14 mint with wmk. reversed, etc, 1883 4d on 6d mint, 1884-90 issue complete mint/used with duplication, large multiples represented in part panes, De La Rue green sample in imperforate block of four from its Ink Recipe Book with annotated "1/- Bahamas postage/Same as 1/- English Postage/Recipe N. 609", 1902-11 complete with duplicates and mint blocks of four, including one "Specimen" set plus some additional examples with type BAH 1 overprint, 1912-19 KGV issue with specimens, large duplication and small marginal multiples, 1920 Peace Celebration with two "Specimen" sets featuring different overprints, some valuable wmk. varieties, 1921-37 KGV issue comprising imperforate printer's samples with "Specimen" overprints, two definitive "Specimen" sets plus £1 in pair, with duplication for the complete set as it is the norm in this collection, 1930-31 Tercentenary with perf. "Specimen" set, the KGV issues additionally enriched with numerous large multiples; the "Staircase" issues, also comprising War Tax and Special Delivery, are extensively represented, being gathered in two stock albums, with specimens, a remarkable number of large multiples, including plate studies; other War Tax issues comprise varieties unrecorded in the S.G. with certificates, #95 in block of four, varieties with #97y wmk. inverted and reversed, etc; the lot is accompanied by approximately 80 R.P.S. or B.P.A. certificates which were also issued for not valuable items; mainly fine-very fine, a highly interesting, valuable and difficult assembly, with accurate inspection being vividly recommended.
