#228, 1902 1K Rose, Meched Provisional on wove paper, second state printing with late control without extra loop, an extremely rare postally used example, possessing a type I Meched cancel with 21/4 cancel with "4" inverted as always, this is a well documented genuine cancel that was never used for sheet canceling, fresh bight color and full balanced margins all around, very fine; this value is of the greatest rarity in postally used condition; G. Karman in his study recorded only eight genuine used examples out of a total of 74 copies of this value examined and all but one of the genuine used possessed this April 21st type I cancel; a seldom offered example of this Meched Provisional rarity.
