Early India, Saurashtra Janapada (c.450-300 BC), Quarter-Karshapana, 0.92g, 2-Mashaka, 0.8g, vegetal symbols; Kuru Janapada, Haryana (c.500-450 BC), Half-Karshapana (2), Baybal hoard type, triangular symbol, rev. the first with six-armed symbol, the second blank (Rajgor ser.18, 19, 21; MAC 4112-4142; Pieper 34, 37, 49-53), together with a Karshapana, 4.20g, possibly an issue of Andhra Janapada, AE fantasy Karshapana, generally fine or better (6)
Saurashtra (then known as Surashtra) covers the Kathiawar peninsular of Gujarat. Haryana is further north-east. All known coins of the Haryana series (500+) were discovered in the village of Baybal near Rhotak in 1992. They are attributed to the Kuru Janapada, but this is not certain.
