Aethelred II (978-1016), Penny, 1.41g, Contemporary Cast Forgery of Long Cross type, Southampton, Swileman, bare headed bust left, rev. +SPILEMAN M’O HA, long cross voided with each arm terminating in three crescents (c.f.N774; S1151), pitted surfaces, perforated and an edge flaw at 8 o’clock, fine, unusual and rare.
