2821 Officer's Steward 1st Class Harry Stephens, born Kensington, London, July 1882; entered the Royal Navy as Officer's Steward 3rd Class, May 1911; promoted 2nd Class, February 1912; served with the Royal Navy during the Great War, initially aboard H.M.S. Laurel, present at the Battles of Heligoland Bight, Dogger Bank and Jutland; promoted 1st Class, June 1916; served aboard H.M.S. Greenwich, July 1916-May 1917; H.M.S Ithuriel, May-September 1917; H.M.S. Vampire, October 1917-November 1918; awarded the Naval L.S.G.C., July 1926.
