1880 (12 Jan.) envelope ex the "Maynard" correspondence to New York, bearing perf 15 1d. vertical pair, [6/9] from Transfer 1, placed sideways and centrally cancelled "A09", showing red crayon "2" with despatch c.d.s. in opposite corner and, on reverse, St. Thomas (Danish P.O.) transit c.d.s. (13.1) and arrival d.s. (26.1); the upper 1d. with damaged top right corner and the envelope a little soiled. A rare rate which only lasted one year (October 1879 until October 1880).
