1879 (9 Oct.) envelope ex the "Maynard" correspondence to New York, bearing perf 11½ 1d. vermilion red vertical pair placed sideways and centrally cancelled "A09", showing red crayon "2", despatch c.d.s. and, on reverse, St. Thomas (Danish P.O.) transit c.d.s. (11.10) and arrival d.s. (27.10). Neat and attractive. A rare rate which only lasted one year (October 1879 until October 1880) and one of only three perf 11½ covers recorded. Photo
