1900 (16 Feb.) Allen Line crested envelope to Montreal, showing a superb strike of the oval-framed "canadian contingent/en route/south africa" cachet in red and bearing Cape of Good Hope 1d. cancelled by G.P.O. Cape Town squared-circle datestamp the following day when the troops arrived on the S.S. Laurentian, two different Montreal arrival c.d.s. (18.3) on reverse. Very rare, being the latest recorded date of use of the En Route datestamp. Photo
