1889 (13 Feb.) unstamped envelope from Akassa to England, marked "River Niger. No Stamps procurable" and showing a superb strike of "the royal company chartered & limited/akassa" triple-oval d.s. (sachet Type 1, S.G. Type 3) alongside "6d" tax h.s., the reverse with Liverpool Br. Packet (20.3) and London (20.3) c.d.s.; three vertical creases, one of which crosses the handstamp, barely affecting the fine appearance of this outstanding handstamp. Photo
