9270 Private Robert Hester, M.M., of Walworth, London; enlisted in the Royal West Kent Regiment, 27.7.1915; served during the Great War with the 6th Battalion on the Western Front from 16.2.1916, and present with the Battalion during operations on the Somme from 3.7.1916, on which date the Battalion reached the German front line having suffered 394 Casualties.
