Great Britain
1840 Mulready
One Penny Letter-Sheet
1840 (1 May), A69 to Worcester bearing a good strike of "P.O. Strand/1py P.Paid" in red and a superb strike of tombstone "c/paid/1 my 1/1840" in red; paper adherences on reverse and soiled with some spliting in the folds re-enforced with hinges, nevertheless a very presentable example of this, the first possible day of use and one of only four recognised covers used on this day (one is in the National Postal Museum). One of the great pieces of Great Britain postal history
