1840 One Penny BlackPlate IbCovers1840 (6 Oct.) large outer wrapper with letter (containing documents) to Edinburgh bearing JA-JJ strip of ten in a very deep black shade, fair margins, touched or just cut into in a couple of places, cancelled by smudged strikes of dull red Maltese Cross and with boxed Lanark and Edinburgh (7.10) backstamps; the wrapper has been refolded to fit the album page. Extraordinarily fine appearance for such a high franking
