Victoria Travelling Post Offices The South Gippsland Line Using Reallocated Numbers 2 and 7 1892(c.)-95(c.) 2d. violet (3) with manuscript cancellations "Up Train 20/4/91" superimposed over Barred Numeral "1917" of Stony Creek, "TPO Down ?/1/9?" and "D Train 21.8.94"; a very rare trio with none of these manuscript cancellations known on cover. Photo Estimate £ 80-100 Note: This line was opened as far as Port Albert on 1 October 1888 It is possible that these three stamps emanate from the remarkable find that J.R.W. Purves made in the early 1950s. Of the items found nearly all were Up Train types so to find two Down Train types in the trio offered above is a rarity
