Victoria Travelling Post Offices The North Gippsland Line Using Numbers 8, 9, 15 and 16 T.P.O. No. 8 1879 (3 Mar.) 1d. lilac card from Warragul to Rosedale cancelled with fine "down train/m.g.8" small octagon d.s. (the earliest recorded date of use) with another strike below and arrival c.d.s. (5.3), 1893 (16 Feb.) 1d. letter card from Traralgon to Melbourne cancelled with fine "up train/m.g.8" small c.d.s., 1895 (Oct.) envelope to Nua Nua bearing 2d. violet cancelled with partial "down train/m.g.8" small octagon d.s. with a further fine strike alongside, and 1905 envelope to Hobart bearing 1d. red (4) cancelled with three "up train/m.g.8" small octagon d.s., the only TPO to use an octagon d.s. on Up mail; both envelope rebacked internally, and a couple of other faults though generally attractive Estimate £ 120-150 Note: This line was completed to Sale in June 1877 and to Bairnsdale in May 1888
