Line Engraved Essays and Proofs 1871 Ormond Hill Die Proofs 1d. die proof in black on thin white paper mounted on soft card, a few small marks, fine and rare. S.G. Spec. DP29a, £40,000 Estimate £ 15,000-20,000 Ormond Hill was the son of Rowland Hill´s brother. He held an important position in the Postage Stamp section at Somerset House. Both of the printers, Perkins, Bacon and De la Rue dealt with him. He suceeded his father as Controller of the Stamping Department in 1872. In February 1871, Ormond Hill instructed the printers to perpare a series of proofs in various colours
