† Great Britain Postal History Newspapers The Times, July 14 1840, an announcement on page 5, "Postage Envelopes" stating "A new stamp for postage envelope is already prepared to supersede the Mulready landscapes of savages, camels, barrels, and Britannias." and announcing the arrival of the Penny Pink envelope, "It consists simply in a well-executed likeness of the Queen, resembling the label, but in circular form, and is to be printed on the right hand upper corner of the envelopes and covers.
