A Treasury Warrant, 1722/3, to George, Earl of Halifax, authorising the issue of £1,000,000 in Exchequer Bills, signed by Lord Treasurers, Robert Walpole, George Baillie and Charles Turner, folio sheet, neatly handwritten, authorises ´Copper Plates to be curiously engraved ...´ and also gives the proposed wording of the bills within the text, torn in half and repaired, very fine. Estimate £ 250 George Baillie (1664-1738), MP 1707-34, Lord of the Treasury 1717-25; Charles Turner (1666-1738) MP for Kings Lynn 1695-1728, friend of Walpole, Lord of the Treasury 1720-30.
