Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Off Mardoe 6 July 1812 (John Powell, Master.), very fine Estimate £ 3,500-4,000 John Powell served as Master in H.M.S. Flamer during the action with a Danish squadron, which included the destruction of the 40-gun frigate Nayaden by H.M. Ships Dictator, the brigs Calypso and Podargus and the gun-brig Flamer, off Mardoe, on the coast of Norway, 6.7.1812 Approximately 47 clasps issued for this action, of which Powell was the only recipient from the Flamer.
