x Queensland 1872 (24 Feb.) mourning envelope from Brisbane "Via Brindisi" to Springfield, USA, bearing 1863-67 no watermark, perf. 12 1/2x13 rough 1/- grey, 1866 (Sept.) litho, first transfer 4d. grey-lilac and 1868-74 watermark Small Truncated Star 6d. green, all cancelled "q.l." and showing Brisbane c.d.s. alongside the adhesives, manuscript "4" rate mark, New York Paid All c.d.s. (30.4) and "4/cents" accountancy handstamp, all in red. A rare three-colour franking with this combination of adhesives, unusually routed via Brindisi. Fine and very attractive.
