Gibraltar The Cherifian Posts, (Sultan´s Postal Service) 1897 (1 Feb.) envelope from Chechouan to Tangier carried on the Local Post to Tetuan where it was put in to the British Post Office, bearing Local Post 40c. deep maroon cancelled by "chechouan/maroc" double-ring d.s. with a further superb strike alongside, and in combination with 1889-96 10c. carmine tied by Tetuan "A26" duplex, the reverse with Tetuan Local Post c.d.s. (2.2) and Tangier c.d.s. (4.2); very fine. An exceptionally rare and attractive combination, and an important exhibition item.
