Gibraltar 1886 (1 January) Overprinted on Stamps of Bermuda Issue, Covers The following section offers what is almost certainly the finest group of these first issue covers ever assembled in one collection. It features a number of remarkable frankings and rates, together with some most unusual destinations 1886 (2 Aug.) envelope to a Fleet Surgeon on "U.S. Flagship ´Omaha´, Yokohama, Japan", bearing 1d. rose-red horizontal and vertical pairs (minor faults) cancelled with "A26" obliterator or duplex and showing, on reverse, Port Said (10.8), Suez (11.8), Singapore to Hong Kong (1.9) and Yokohama (14.9) c.d.s.; the envelope slightly cut down and right and used to repair the cover at right, nevertheless a most unusual franking to an almost certainly unique destination for mail from this issue.
