Car history on paper: In the year 1848 Carlo Castagna took control of the prestigious workshop “Ferrari”, which for more than a century produced carriages for aristocratic and royal families. The renamed “C. Castagna & C.” (CCC) continued with the maintenance and production of majestic carriages. At the end of the century CCC began importing the world first car, Benz” quadricycles, into Italy. After 1900 CCC worked together with companies like Ferrari, Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Mercedes-Benz, Isotta Fraschini and Hispano-Suiza in design and development. Many of these models were landmarks in car history. In 1905 Queen Margherita from Savoy ordered a car (tipo Sparviero) to run the “Susa-Mont Cenis” one of the first motor races in history. In 1913 CCC constructed the famous “Aerodynamica” car using a chassis ALPA 40-60 HP. Especially in cooperation with Isotta Fraschini CCC produced many famous cars and had great success in the US and Europe. Even the Compagnie International des Wagons-Lits was a partner of CCC in the production of the famous “Orient Express”. Still today the Company is active as a manufacturer of custom-built or concept cars. Top left hole slightly rusty from pin. VF.
