1857 ca. Cover (three back flaps missing) to Santiago, franked by 1857 5c. pair, clear to large margins, just touched in small part at top right, featuring a clear impression in scarce cinnamon shade which is characteristic of an early printing in the "Estancos", tied by "FRANCA" straight-line with matching "S.CARLOS" straight-line at top right. Of the five items known from San Carlos, this is the only example recorded exhibiting the "Franca" postmark, which further enhances the importance of this showpiece by tying the franking. SFC 37a.
