1904 (13 Jun.) postcard from England to Weihwei, Honan bearing 1d. cancelled by origin c.d.s. The mail was transported by ship with "Hong Kong to Shanghai" marine sorter (7.16) and "Liu Kong Tau/A" transit c.d.s. (7.22). Subsequently, it was routed through Chefoo and Tienntsin, receiving additional cancels along the way, these included Chefoo B.P.O. c.d.s. (7.24), with another Chefoo lunar c.d.s. (7.24), Tientsin lunar c.d.s. (7.26), and arrival lunar c.d.s (8.1).
During the Qing Dynasty, foreign mail sent to China via sea routes typically entered Chinese territory through Shanghai or Hong Kong. Mail entering through Liu Kong Tau is exceedingly rare and valuable, making this piece a valuable addition to Chefoo postal history collections.
