1936-37 a group of covers with 1936 (22 Apr.) envelope registered to London bearing, on the reverse, four-colour $1.15 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s., the address side marked "via Canton - Hanoi" with Par Avion etiquette and registration label; pays 25c. surface, 65c. air and 25c. registration. 1937 (16 Jan.) envelope to London, handstamped "air mail via hanoi" in mauve and bearing, on the reverse, $2.20 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s., paying the triple rate; cover with small defects. 1936 (28 July) envelope to Hanoi bearing 75c. franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s. with the Par Avion etiquette and "air mail via Hanoi" in purple and pays the CNAC rate of 25c. surface and double 25c. airmail and is a very early example of the first period of the newly implemented CNAC foreign airmail service. Also a commemorative cover for the ill-fated CNAC flight from Canton to Saigon, the flight was delayed in Fort Bayard and returned to Canton. Rate 1.2.1.1. (4 covers)
