NGC Census and Coin Archive Information

NGC: two specimens example of this date, both SP62, including this coin,
PCGS: Population Report records no proof or specimen for the entire Victorian 50 cent series
Coin Archives lists no proofs or specimens ever to have been offered.

NGC SP62, NGC Cert. # 4620654-001. Believed to be ex King Farouk of Egypt Collection (Royal Palace Auction of 1954). One of two recorded. Of the Straits Victorian 50 cents pieces, only a handful are recorded in proof or specimen. A Straits Settlements Victoria 50 cents in strictly Mint State is a major rarity. Of the 10 or 15 UNCs recorded for all these years only a couple are MS 63 or better. The NGC's census lists only shows one Mint State example of the 1890H 50 cents, this being an MS 62. Even in UNC condition an example of this 44,000-mintage coin would bring USD15,000-20,000. An exceptional offering of a superb and highly important example of the largest Straits Settlements Victorian silver coin.
