To U.S.A.: A group of covers with 1949 (27 Sept.) opened-out wrapper or parcel front registered to New York bearing $10,230 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s. and with U.S. instructional mark "parcel post. collect 15 cents", this shows very early use of the five Chairman Mao $100 stamps; 1950 (2 June) air mail envelope to Iowa bearing $15,800 franking tied by Putienfu c.d.s. and paying $3100 letter and $12,700 airmail; 1950 (2 June) envelope to New York bearing a colourful $3100 franking tied by Foochow c.d.s. and 1950 (13 June) opened-out envelope to Boston bearing $3100 franking tied by Foochow c.d.s. and routed via Canton.
