China for Tibet, cut Sichuan Rupees (2), two halves of different coins (KM Y#B5), good fine, scarce, genuine cut fractional coins practically never offered

Minor denominations of the Sichuan Rupee were often not accepted as coins in Tibet. In order to obtain smaller denominations Rupees were sometimes cut into halves and quarters. Halves usually have the portrait cut vertically (as in these examples), to avoid defacing the portrait and causing possible offence (Bertsch, Wolfgang, & Rhodes, Nicholas: 'The Use of Cut Coins in Tibet' Tibet Journal, vol.35, no.3, Autumn 2010, pp.19-40).
