1939 (Nov.) business envelope registered via Siberia from Shanghai "Liddell Bros. & Co." to England , bearing 50c (2), tied by Shanghai bilibgual c.d.s., with Shanghai registration label, has been censored by Germany and England. Also 1918 (29 Jul.) a cover from England to Shanghai "Percy Liddell" , bearing 2 and 1/2p. franking, tied by Chepstow c.d.s., 12 Sep arrival at Shanghai.
William Oswald Liddell ( born 9 Sep. 1881), was the eldest son of Charles Oswald Liddell, founder of firm of Liddell Brothers, Hide and Skin Merchants of Shanghai and Tientsin and father of Ian Percy Oswald Liddell (born 19 Oct. 1920 in Shanghai) who, whilst serving in the Coldstream Guards, was killed in a acting in Germany in April 1945, and posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross, Britain's highest decoration for gallantry.
