Shell Money, group of 5 gold coated copper cowry, Cowry shells were used in during the earliest days of Chinese history. The copper shell coin developed into a new form during the middle of Spring and Autumn Period - the gold-coated copper cowry. It is a thin layer of gold on the surface of normal copper coins, making it more luxurious and wearable.
