People's Bank of China, 2nd series renminbi, 1953, serial number I III II 8943172, black and pale orange, peasant couple at centre, the man pointing to the far distance and the woman with a harvest of wheat, watermark of the Chinese National Emblem at left, reverse in similar colours, bank title and denomination in four different texts,
(Pick 870), PCGS Banknote 65OPQ Gem Uncirculated, the second highest grade in the PCGSBG population report and only one note graded higher at 67OPQ. One of the iconic notes in the People's Bank issues and extremely diffiicult in high grades with an 'OPQ' (Original Paper Quality) status. A magnificient note worthy of a place in the most advanced PRC collections.
