The colored stripes on the Five-Colored Flag represent the five major races in China, namely the Han (red); the Manchus (yellow); the Mongols (blue); the "Hui" (Muslim Chinese) (white); and the Tibetans (black). The flag is formed by joining the five colored stripes together, implicitly emphasizing the principle of "Five Races Under One Union In Harmony".
