Indo-China
French Indo-Chinese Post Office
Military Mail
1941 (18 April) registered airmail cover from Poulo Condore to French India, censored on despatch with permission to forward typed in red. Franked on reverse with 1931 1c and 10c with additional stamps under Indian OPENED BY CENSOR reseal label also tied by black wax seal. Pondichery arrival (14 May). A fascinating cover which was inspected by censors in Indo-China, Singapore and India. Because Indo-China was loyal to the Vichy regime and French India was loyal to the Free French, correspondence between the two areas triggered increased scrutiny.
