Canton to France cover, bearing Hong Kong QV 12c., tied by "C1 Obliterator", with Canton type "B" cds alongside, this letter transit by Hong Kong on same day 31 October, sent by France Packet MI Ava on 1 November to Marseilles on 5 December. Note: After Hong Kong became a member of the U.P.U. on 1 April 1877, the C1 obliterator is record used with Canton type B cds struck on front of the cover, until its withdrawal around January 1884.
